This thesis is based on the theme Language Ideology of Indonesian Kompas and Malaysian Utusan in Discourse Report of Anti-Malaysian Demonstration: A Critical Discourse Analysis using the model of van Dijk. The method used in this research is the qualitative method, that is, the procedure which gives a descriptive data literally and orally in society language. The objectives of this research are, to describe the condition for anti-Malaysian demonstration which is presented in the micro scale (based on text), illustrating the social reasoning of Indonesian Kompas and Malaysian correspondent in the meso scale, and describing the expression of anti-Malaysian demonstration under macro scale based on Van Dijk Critique Model. The data source used in this research is the recorded news downloaded from official websites of Indonesian Kompas and Malaysian Utusan, i.e Kompas.com and Utusan.com respectively.
The result of analysis under micro scale confirmed that Indonesian Kompas presents a positive attitude towards anti-Malaysian demonstration and negative attitude towards Malaysian which appear as the object of the demonstration, while, Malaysian Utusan confirmed the vice-versa. The analysis result under meso scale displayed that what matters the Indonesian Kompas and Malaysian Utusan on behalf of anti-Malaysian demonstration news, is nationalism ideology. The nationalism ideology which is adhered by the two media implied to the difference in establishing the topic. In its process for running an ideologist role, both media use a language as central position until it can make hegemony in more wide society structure.
